SDDA, MERU UNIVERSITY TO ENHANCE PARTNERSHIP TO BOOST GLOBAL JOB PLACEMENT FOR GRADUATES

Thursday, June 19, 2025(NAIROBI)__Ms. Irene Karari, Director In-Charge of the Skills and Expertise Division at the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, recently met with a delegation from Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, Ph.D.
The meeting centered on identifying international labor markets in need of skilled professionals, aligning university curricula with global standards, and building connections with institutions that facilitate graduate training and placement.
Prof. Odhiambo highlighted the diverse career programs offered at MUST and ongoing international partnerships that not only create employment opportunities but also foster the exchange of knowledge, skills, and technology.
Representing the Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, Director Karari outlined the State Department’s mandate and labor mobility programs designed to meet global market demands.
She emphasized the importance of preparing students for international careers and assured the university of the Department’s support through the Diaspora Placement Agency.
Both Prof. Odhiambo and Ms. Karari agreed to strengthen collaboration to enhance employment creation for graduates.
The MUST delegation present in the meeting included Prof. Simon Thuranira (Deputy VC), Dr. Charles Njati (Director of Alumni Affairs), and Ms. Jecinter Hezron (Liaison Officer), as well as Ms. Ann Muruche (Deputy Director-Skills and Expertise) and Ms. Velma Mudibo (FSO).
