Thursday, August 13, 2026(MERU COUNTY)—Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, CBS, as part of the Diaspora Mashinani initiative, took the government's development agenda directly to the people, engaging residents of Kiringo, Muruguma, and Maitei areas in Meru County in a series of community consultations aimed at aligning local priorities with national transformation goals.
The PS, who was accompanied by National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO), held extensive discussions with community leaders, the youth, women, and residents, outlining the development projects being implemented under the Fifth Administration.
The engagements formed part of a broader effort by the Government of Kenya to cascade the national conversation, ensuring that development planning is inclusive, bottom-up, and responsive to the aspirations of every Kenyan.
During the meetings, PS Njogu unpacked the government's development agenda for the region, taking time to hear firsthand the community's priorities. The sessions provided a platform for residents to raise issues affecting them and proposed interventions.
A key highlight of the engagements was the PS's engagement with young people on the Kazi Majuu initiative, a flagship program designed to open doors for Kenyan youth to join the global diaspora workforce.
PS Njogu outlined the prospects available abroad and encouraged the youth to position themselves to take advantage of these international employment opportunities, emphasizing that the diaspora remains a critical pillar of Kenya's economic diplomacy and development strategy.
By bringing the national vision down to village-level conversations, the government aims to foster a shared sense of ownership in Kenya's long-term development trajectory.
