Friday, October 9, 2026(MERU)__Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, today led the laying of pipes for part of the Naari–Nturukume water project during a working tour of Muceene and Mbaaria areas in Meru County.
Speaking during the exercise, PS Njogu said the Government was committed to expanding access to water for household use and farming. She urged residents to make the most of the project by using the water for irrigation and other productive activities.
Addressing hundreds of residents in Mbaaria, the Principal Secretary encouraged young people to turn their ideas into practical initiatives that could improve their livelihoods. She also emphasized the importance of community-level projects that deliver tangible benefits to residents.
The project is expected to benefit thousands of people across the wider Buuri Constituency by improving access to water and supporting agricultural production.
PS Njogu later distributed farm seeds to residents and urged them to take advantage of the ongoing rains to plant and contribute to local food security.
She also called on Kenyans living abroad to support initiatives that respond to community needs and create a living legacy.
The Principal Secretary was accompanied by local administration officials, youth representatives and women’s group leaders.
Earlier on, PS Njogu addressed pupils at Muceene Primary School in Buuri and Kithiiri Primary School in Tigania West.
