PS NJOGU TO THIRD SECRETARY CADETS-YOU ARE KEY TO KENYA’S DIPLOMATIC FUTURE

Wednesday, June 4, 2025(NAIROBI)__Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, CBS, has described foreign service cadets as an essential part of Kenya’s diplomatic future.

The PS emphasized that the successful implementation and stewardship of Kenya’s foreign policy depend on the energy, enthusiasm, and fresh perspectives of young diplomats.

Speaking at the opening session of the induction program for Foreign Service Cadets deployed to the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, PS Njogu pointed out Diaspora Diplomacy as a key pillar of Kenya’s foreign policy.

She stressed that the interests of Kenyan citizens abroad are central to the country’s diplomatic agenda—an understanding that led to the establishment of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs.

PS Njogu outlined the Government’s expectations for the cadets’ training, expressing her desire to see sharp, knowledgeable, and innovative officers who are ready to develop solutions that advance Kenya’s diplomatic interests.

The PS encouraged the cadets to adopt proactive and creative approaches, harnessing technology—including artificial intelligence—to remain relevant in modern diplomacy and to adapt global solutions for local application.

Additionally, the PS urged the cadets to familiarize themselves with the pillars and strategies of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) so they can effectively address both current and emerging challenges and better serve the public.

During the same event, Ambassador Patrick Wamoto, Acting Director-General of the Foreign Service Academy, highlighted the importance of the training program, noting that it provides an opportunity for cadets to be retooled, reskilled, and repurposed to add value to Kenya’s Foreign Service.

PS Njogu was accompanied by Dr. P.W.C K’Angira, Director of Human Resource Management and Development at the SDDA; Mr. Glenns Etyang, Deputy Director-OPS; and Mr. John Jogo, Deputy Director-HRM&D.
