THE HEALTHCARE CONVERSATION-SDDA, SHA HOLD CONSULTATIVE MEETING

Friday, September 5, 2025(NAIROBI)__In a significant step towards inclusive healthcare, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs (SDDA) held a high-level consultative meeting with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to strengthen support systems for Kenyans living abroad.

The SDDA delegation, headed by Amb. Anne Wanjohi, Director and Head of the Liaison & Partnerships, and the SHA team, led by Ms. Hezel Koitaba, Director of Beneficiary and Provider Management, convened a meeting to identify opportunities for synergy and partnership.

Central to the discussions was the development of efficient pathways for diaspora Kenyans to register with national health systems and financially support their relatives' access to affordable, quality healthcare in Kenya. Both institutions acknowledged the critical need to resolve technical and logistical hurdles, such as biometric registration, while utilizing existing diaspora outreach programs to amplify awareness.

The dialogue reaffirmed a joint commitment to the "whole-of-Government" principle, ensuring policies are responsive and service delivery is seamless. This partnership is key in supporting Kenya's goal of universal health coverage.

Amb. Wanjohi was accompanied by a SDDA officers, including Ms. Polly Maingi – Head of Accounts, Mr. Alex Okitoi – Director, Welfare & Rights, Mr. Edwin Limo, Director-Liaison & Partnerships, Mr. Eugene Makokha, Deputy Director-L&P, Ms. Lucy Muraya, Asst. Director-Savings, Investment & Remittances, Mr. Felix Mbuvi, FSO-L&P, Ms. Sylvia Kahunga, FSO-L&P, and Mr. Daniel Mwangi, FSO-Welfare & Rights.
