Monday, September 1, 2025(NAIROBI)__State Department for Diaspora Affairs (SDDA) Principal Secretary Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, CBS, has called on recently graduated Foreign Service Officers to fully embrace their positions with national pride, highlighting their role in promoting Kenya’s foreign interests and protecting the rights and well-being of Kenyans overseas.

Addressing the graduation of the Foreign Service Cadets’ induction program, PS. Njogu stressed that the graduates now hold the task of defining Kenya’s global image, observing that “Brand Kenya” lies in their care. She encouraged maintaining utmost professionalism, showing boldness and creativity in their duties, and keeping the interests of Kenyan citizens central to their diplomatic work.

The Principal Secretary also underlined that diplomacy involves not only inter-state relations but also safeguarding and assisting citizens internationally. She pointed out that Kenya’s expanding diaspora is key to national progress, and diplomats must lead in representing their needs.

Prof. Patrick Maluki, Chairman of the Foreign Service Academy Council, emphasized the necessity of ongoing education and flexibility, stating that contemporary diplomacy requires officials capable of tackling new issues while promoting Kenya’s principles and priorities.

Amb Daniel Wambura, representing State Department for Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Dr. Korir Sing'Oei, encouraged the graduates to base their service on discipline and dedication, noting that these virtues will shape their effectiveness as Kenya’s envoys both domestically and internationally.

Amb. Patrick Wamoto, Acting Director-General of the Academy, commended the officers for finishing the rigorous program and advised using their expertise to enhance Kenya’s global presence and foster meaningful partnerships to support national growth.

The ceremony, organized by the State Department for Diaspora Affairs together with the Foreign Service Academy following three months of thorough preparation, signaled the start of the officers’ path as defenders of Kenya’s diplomacy and representatives of its citizens worldwide.
