DIASPORA AFFAIRS PS PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON KENYA’S ENVOY TO THE UAE

Tuesday, June 10,2025(United Arab Emirates) __Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu,CBS, commenced her official visit to the United Arab Emirates with a courtesy call to Ambassador Kenneth Nganga, Kenya’s envoy to the UAE.

During the meeting, PS Njogu and Ambassador Nganga discussed issues concerning Kenyan nationals living and working in the UAE.

The PS underscored the critical importance of fully implementing the Kenya Diaspora Policy 2024 to enhance services for the Kenyan diaspora. She also highlighted the recent launch of the Diaspora Placement Agency (DPA), urging stronger collaboration between the Mission and the DPA to facilitate professional job placements.

Expressing concern over the rising cases of human trafficking, PS Njogu called for urgent joint efforts to protect Kenyans residing in the UAE. Additionally, she encouraged the Mission to intensify diaspora engagement activities, including organizing town halls and community events.

Ambassador Nganga briefed the PS on the recent tragic fire in Sharjah that resulted in the deaths of three Kenyan nationals and expressed gratitude for the prompt support provided by the Government through the State Department.

He also emphasized the need for enhanced consular resources to better assist the growing diaspora, particularly in addressing legal challenges and combating exploitation by unscrupulous recruitment agencies.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen cooperation focused on diaspora welfare and to improve service delivery to Kenyans in the UAE.

PS Njogu was accompanied by Hon. Zamzam Mohamed, MP, member of the Diaspora and Migrant Workers Committee, and Hon. Abdikadir Hussein Mohamed, MP, member of the Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations. #KenyaInTheUAE
