PS NJOGU ENGAGES NAHUSOM TO STRENGTHEN ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING EFFORTS

Thursday, May 29, 2025(NAIROBI)__Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline K. Njogu,CBS, today held a consultative meeting with representatives from the Network Against Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants (NAHUSOM) – Kenya.

The NAHUSOM delegation included members from civil society and faith-based organizations, forming part of a national coalition dedicated to tackling the complex and evolving issues of human trafficking and migrant smuggling in Kenya.

This engagement marked the initiation of a strategic dialogue between the State Department for Diaspora Affairs and NAHUSOM, with both parties expressing a strong commitment to developing collaborative frameworks. These efforts will focus on supporting legislative reforms, protecting vulnerable groups, and enhancing national initiatives to combat trafficking.

NAHUSOM shared its multi-sectoral strategy based on the 4Ps—Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, and Partnerships—emphasizing the value of joint advocacy, robust victim support systems, and institutional capacity-building.

The discussion underscored the importance of future collaboration, sharing of best practices, and upholding the rights and dignity of all individuals, especially those in the diaspora and returning diaspora members.

Attendees included Ms. Emma Gicheha, Director and Head of the Welfare and Rights Division; Ms. Joan Muchoki, Deputy Director, Liaison & Partnerships; Mr. Mutuku Nguli, CEO of CHTEA; Ms. Edith Murogo, CEO of CTDT; and Ms. Nimo Ali, CEO of Candle of Hope Foundation.

Also, present were Sr. Mercy Mwangi, Director of Talitha Kum Kenya; Ms. Lillian Nyangasi, Director of Set Free to Thrive; and Mr. Chrispin Kimani from the Center for Domestic Training and Development.
