PS NJOGU COMMENDS THE KENYA-GERMANY LABOUR MOBILITY PARTNERSHIP

Thursday, October 2, 2025(NAIROBI)__The growing labour mobility partnership between Kenya and Germany is creating a new generation of skilled, cultural ambassadors who are building meaningful bridges between the two nations, Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline K. Njogu, CBS, has said.

Speaking at a Labour Mobility Cocktail event hosted by the German Embassy in one of the Nairobi hotels, PS Njogu lauded the initiative as a "promising area of cooperation" that extends beyond statistics and formal agreements into the realm of human connection.

She highlighted the triumphs of young skilled and talented Kenyans on the international market, who not only support their families back home but have also become informal envoys of Kenyan culture.

"They learn a new language, adapt to a new culture, and still manage to carry the warmth and resilience of Kenya with them," Njogu said.

The PS underscored the Government's commitment to ensuring these opportunities are "safe, structured, and beneficial to both sides," with ethical recruitment and the protection of workers' rights as core principles.

"When labour mobility is done right, it is not just the workers who thrive - it is families, communities, and nations that prosper," she added.

Providing a concrete example of the partnership in action, Njogu revealed that she recently visited Tom Mboya University in Homa Bay with Interior PS Dr. Raymond Omollo, where they met 600 students enrolled in a German language program facilitated by the German Embassy and the Goethe Institute.

The PS concluded by framing the partnership as a future model for labour mobility—one that is "ethical, fair, sustainable, and above all, human-centered and inclusive."

H.E Sebastian Groth, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya, commended the Government of Kenya, through the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, for its support in advancing structured labour mobility. He emphasized that such cooperation not only addresses labour market needs but also strengthens the enduring friendship between the two countries.

The event signaled strong bilateral support for the initiative that aims to nurture the dreams of Kenyan youth while opening up opportunities in the international market.
